ABOUT

Ole Wollberg’s abstract works offer an individual experience of interaction between color contrasts, textures, flatness and space. Haptic styles and relief surfaces mark their ambiguous state between tableau and object.

The current series combine painting and drawing techniques with the concept of monotype. What you see is the back of the last layer detached from the support medium. Lower layers as well as the canvas-structured surface of the paper imprint on that backside. The final work is a film of pure paint preferably framed between two glass plates in order to provide transparency and permeant illumination. The custom-made acrylic glass frames are installed with an 18 mm distance to the wall. That way dynamic shades and reflections become part of the work depending on light incidence.
